My Basic Process

This is the general procedure on how I work on each artwork.

  1. Concepting / Rough Sketch

    • A variety of choices are drawn to figure out what your visions looks like on paper.

  2. Refining / Clean Sketch

    • Once a concept is chosen, it is refined and cleaned into a guide of what the final product will look like.

  3. Major Stage

    • For the Lined drawings:

      1. Linework

      2. Color

      3. Shading

      4. Final Touches

  • I will send progress updates (screenshots) at regular intervals to ensure I am still on track with the original vision.

Rights

  • The original owner(s) own the intellectual rights of their characters/concept.

  • I, the artist, own the copyright to the artwork.

  • Rights over the work can be negotiated.

  • What does this mean?

    • Those who do NOT own the artwork's copyright:

      • Cannot resell this work or claim it as their own.

      • Cannot edit, color, manipulate ("photoshop") or alter the artwork in any way.

        • This altered version also cannot be sold or claimed as their own.

  • Posting Online

    • You MUST credit me and add at least one link to one of my social sites.

    • I will credit the client and/or the original owners (if different from the client). I can keep names/usernames anonymous, if so chosen.

Revisions & Completion

  • You may guide revisions throughout the commissioning process.

  • Minor changes can also be made after the work is complete, especially if I failed to meet something from the original description.

  • Major changes made during the Major Stage and after are subject to additional payment.

"Minor" Revision (examples)

Changing facial expressions, small accessories like jewelry, adding small markings, adjusting clothing wrinkles, adjusting shading in small areas.

"Major" Revision (examples)

Changes to limb or torso position, adding new clothing, adding elements that were not described previously, changing the background (such as from a forest to mountain range), increasing the file size during or after the Major Stage.

  • Completed works will be sent to the client via a method that best preserves the finished quality - typically email - in .JPG and/or .PNG formats.

    • A smaller size for web posting.

    • A full-resolution size for personal viewing.

  • If there is a specific final size you have in mind for this commission, please say so before work begins or before the Major Stage. I usually begin with the canvas size at 8 x 11 inches.

Payments

  • US Dollar only, via PayPal, CashApp, or Ko-fi.

  • 50% of the total price will be due after the commission details are established and a price is agreed upon, before any work has begun.

    • An invoice will be sent out, and you will have one week (7 calendar days) to make this payment.

  • The remaining 50% will be due during the Refining/Clean Sketch sage.

    • Another invoice will be sent, and the client will have one week (7 calendar days) to make this payment.

  • I reserve the right to cancel the commission due to lack of payment.

  • Changes to the price, such as Major revisions being made, or unforeseen circumstances, may alter the final payment or add a final charge after completion.

Cancellation & Refunds

  • If the commission is cancelled (after the initial payment):

    • Before any work is done: 95% of the payment will be refunded. 5% is kept as a convenience fee.

    • During the Rough or Refined stage: 50% of the payment will be refunded.

  • If the commission is cancelled during or after the Major Stage:

    • Cancelled by the Client: NO refund will be issued.

    • Cancelled by the Artist: 75% of the payments made, up to cancellation, will be refunded.

  • Should cancellation occur and the work is incomplete, the client may keep the unfinished work for personal viewing. The work, however, may NOT be completed by another artist, as it is still under my copyright.
